The Why

Hello and welcome to the Indigo Dove Blog! I hope this blog can provide encouragement, insight, and honestly be a soft place to land. Let's start at the beginning. This is "the why" behind Indigo Dove.

After my son, Isaac, passed on May 9, 2016, I felt a need to "do" something in his honor.  I wanted it to directly impact families who experienced loss, but wasn't exactly sure what that looked like.

After months of thinking about crafts I could make to comfort families, I was at a loss. I was frustrated, discouraged, and disappointed, as if I had let Isaac down. So many other parents had created beauty from ashes. They had honored their child exactly in the way I wanted to. Why couldn't I come up with an idea? After all, I just wanted to help provide a moment of comfort like the Molly Bear and Mamie's Poppy Plate did for us.

I decided instead just to do what I can do. Create. I became a maker with a mission. I may not have a specific craft to make for loss families, but instead a percentage of each sale is donated to help loss families. In a way, this gives so much freedom and allows for a wide spread impact. A little here and a little there.

With each piece I make, I look at is as a labor of love. If one other family can find solace, encouragement, or comfort then Isaac's memory lives on and changes lives for the better.

I'm not sure how far this will go, but I feel like God has big plans! Thank you for supporting Indigo Dove and in turn, so many other families who have experienced loss.

This journey is hard. And God chose me to be his Momma.

This is for you, Isaac. You are my "Why".
